Ginoria rohrii bears small white flowers with numerous protruding stamens along a slender woody branch

Ginoria rohrii (Prickle Wood)

Native to Puerto Rico and the Leeward Islands, this shrub or small tree grows in seasonally dry tropical vegetation. White flowers appear along woody branches, and spiny stipules help distinguish the plant from related herbs. It commonly grows in coastal dry forests and thickets in the Virgin Islands. Local names include prickle wood and sugar ant. Photographed in Florida.
