Geranium diffusum
Native to the northern Andes from northwestern Venezuela to northern Peru, this perennial herb grows in montane habitats. Slender, lightly branched stems rise from a spreading base and bear fine hairs. Rounded to kidney-shaped leaves are deeply divided into five to seven lobes, with smaller divisions near the tips. Solitary flowers develop on hairy stalks from the leaf axils. Five petals spread around the central stamens and pistil, while small, hairy sepals form a green cup beneath the flower. Photographed in Peru.
