Fuchsia sanctae-rosae has a group of hanging red tubular flowers with spreading sepals beneath glossy green leaves among mossy branches

Fuchsia sanctae-rosae

Native to southern Peru and Bolivia, this climbing shrub grows in cloud forest and can extend its long, flexible shoots into nearby trees. Young growth has a covering of fine hairs, and older branches develop peeling brown to reddish brown bark. Small elliptic leaves occur in whorls of three or four and are paler underneath. Pendant flowers develop in the upper leaf axils. Photographed in Peru.
