Fridericia schumanniana
Native from Mexico and Central America to tropical South America, this woody climber grows in wet lowland and foothill forests. Its leaves usually have paired leaflets, sometimes accompanied by a climbing tendril. Flowers are pale pink to purple outside and white within, with long funnel-shaped tubes and rounded, wavy lobes. The green flower cups may split into five unequal lobes. Long, flattened woody capsules have rough surfaces and release winged seeds. Photographed in Florida.
