Farfugium japonicum (Leopard Plant)
Native from southern China through temperate eastern Asia, this evergreen perennial herb forms clumps of glossy, leathery leaves. The rounded to kidney-shaped foliage rises from the base on long stalks, while branching flower stems stand above it. Clusters of yellow daisy-like heads appear in autumn, with broad outer ray florets surrounding central disc florets. Garden forms vary from solid green leaves to spotted, variegated or crinkled foliage. It can be propagated by dividing established clumps. Photographed in Colombia.
