Fabisporus sanguineus
Fabisporus sanguineus is a wood-decaying bracket fungus distributed through tropical and subtropical regions, including Colombia and other parts of the Americas. Its thin, tough fruiting bodies form orange-red fans or semicircular shelves attached directly to wood. The underside contains tiny pores rather than gills, and the upper surface may become smoother as it ages. It causes white rot by breaking down wood components and occurs on dead hardwood, fallen branches, standing trunks, and exposed timber. Photographed in Colombia.
