Eugenia buxifolia
Native only to Réunion, this dense shrub or small tree grows in forests from lower slopes into the island’s uplands. It can reach about thirty-three feet tall. Flowers have four prominent white petals surrounding numerous long stamens that range from white to pink. Rounded to oval berries contain one or two seeds and are eaten by birds. The species is known locally as bois de nèfles à petites feuilles. Photographed in Colombia.
