Espeletia hartwegiana (Frailejones)


Native to the northern Andes, this rosette-forming plant is adapted to cold, wet pƔramo habitats. It grows between about 7,800 and 14,700 feet, with dense leaves surrounding an upright flowering stem. Photographed in Purace National Park, Colombia.
