Erythrina crista galli

Native to Argentina, Uruguay, southern Brazil, and Paraguay, the Cockspur Coral Tree this ornamental tree has scarlet-red flowers, resembling peas and blossoms in loose clusters at the branch ends. The tree has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit and is the national flower of Argentina and Uruguay. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
