Small yellow and pink Eria pubescens flowers line an upright stalk against a dark background

Eria pubescens

Native from the Himalayas through southern China and Southeast Asia, this orchid grows on trees and develops swollen pseudobulbs. Flowering stems arise near the base of older growths. The stalks and floral bracts have a dense covering of pale, woolly hairs, reflected in the species name. Loose clusters carry flowers with spreading segments and a differentiated lip. Photographed in Florida.
