Eria javanica
Native from the eastern Himalayas through Southeast Asia to New Guinea, this orchid grows on trees and occasionally on rocks. Swollen, pear-shaped pseudobulbs carry one or two leaves. Flowering stems rise near the top of a mature pseudobulb and can reach about two feet long. Numerous star-shaped, sweetly fragrant flowers are arranged around each stem. The three-lobed lip has several raised ridges at its base. Photographed in Florida.
