Epidendrum englerianum flowers have slender burgundy segments and small pale pink lips

Epidendrum englerianum

Native to Ecuador, this small orchid forms clumps of leafy, cane-like stems. Plants reach about eight to twenty inches tall. Loose flower clusters carry a few blooms with slender petals and backward-curving sepals. The sepals and petals are usually deep purple, while the lip and the tip of the column are pink. A green-and-white form is also recorded. The lip has three lobes and prominent, narrow calli. Photographed in Ecuador.
