Epidendrum coryophorum has purple flowers with white tips arranged along a curved pink flower stalk

Epidendrum coryophorum

Native to Colombia and Ecuador, this orchid grows on trees in mountain forests. Its creeping growths produce upright stems bearing one or two leathery leaves. Dense, elongated flower clusters arch downward from the stem tips. The purple-red flowers have white to greenish-white tips, and their narrow, undivided lips point upward rather than downward. Flowering can occur throughout the year, with fruits recorded from May through August. Photographed in Colombia.
