Encyclia Borincana flowers spread narrow maroon segments around pale pink striped lips on branching stems

Encyclia Borincana

A cultivated orchid hybrid, Borincana is a cross between Encyclia alata and Encyclia bractescens. The medium-sized plant produces open, branching sprays of fragrant flowers. Slender chocolate-maroon to dark-purple segments contrast with a broad pink lip marked with red stripes. Individual flowers are about one inch across. Flowering commonly occurs in spring and early summer, with blooms lasting for several weeks. Photographed in Florida.
