Elasis hirsuta

Endemic to Ecuador, this perennial subshrub belongs to the dayflower family and grows in forest vegetation. It may spread through surrounding plants as a scrambling vine, with stems extending as much as 16 feet. Compact clusters of flowers grow close to the leafy stems. Each flower has three equal petals and six stamens, with the anthers pointing outward from the centre. Photographed in Colombia.
