Echeveria agavoides
Native to Mexico, this evergreen succulent herb forms compact rosettes of thick, pointed leaves. Red margins give the foliage a distinctive outline. Flower stalks can rise about sixteen inches above the plant, carrying lantern-shaped blooms arranged chiefly along one side. The flowers are red with yellow tips. New plants can be raised from leaf cuttings or by separating the offsets that form around the base. Photographed in Colombia.
