Delosperma rogersii
Endemic to the Eastern Cape of South Africa, this perennial succulent shrublet forms low mats of trailing or rising stems. Its fleshy, elongated leaves can have fine, soft hairs and store water during dry periods. Small yellow flowers with pale centres appear from spring through summer. The five-chambered seed capsules open when wet, exposing numerous tiny seeds. It grows on rocky slopes and is cultivated as an ornamental. Photographed in Peru.
