Cuphea strigulosa
Cuphea strigulosa is native to South America where it grows in moist open habitats, including grasslands and forest edges. This species is a perennial herb characterized by its slender, hairy stems and profuse flowering, often producing numerous blossoms along a single stalk. The flowers are small but distinct, with bright pink to violet petals and a tubular calyx that is covered with fine hairs, a feature that gives rise to its name referencing strigose, or bristly, surfaces. Photographed in Choco, Ecuador.
