Cuphea micropetala

Cuphea micropetala, often called the candy corn plant or cigar plant, is native to Mexico and is recognized for its striking tubular flowers that display a color gradient from green at the base to bright orange and yellow at the tips. These flowers, typically about two inches long, bloom in clusters along upright stems. Flowering usually occurs in late summer through autumn. The plant can reach up to three feet tall and wide under favorable conditions, creating a dense, shrubby form. Photographed in Virginia.
