Crinum asiaticum var. asiaticum

Native to the Indian Ocean region, tropical Asia, and the southwestern Pacific, this evergreen bulbous perennial forms a large clump of broad, strap-shaped leaves. Tall flower stalks carry clusters of fragrant white flowers with slender tubes and six narrow, spreading segments. It grows near coasts and in other moist tropical habitats and is widely cultivated in gardens. Mature bulbs produce offsets that can be divided for propagation. The bulbs are poisonous if eaten. It has been introduced to Florida and many Caribbean and Pacific islands. Photographed in Florida.
