Convolvulus crenatifolius pale pink funnel-shaped flowers with pointed lobes beside hairy green stems

Convolvulus crenatifolius

Native to Texas and Mexico and to South America from Ecuador to Brazil and Argentina, it is a perennial herb with creeping, scrambling or twining stems. Its alternate leaves are usually triangular to elongated, with arrow-shaped bases and wavy or shallowly toothed edges. White to pale pink, funnel-shaped flowers grow singly or in small groups. Silky hairs cover the outer bands of the corolla, which ends in five small points. The dry, rounded seed capsules split into four valves; the seeds are hairless. The species occurs in open grasslands, forest edges, roadsides and other disturbed places. Photographed in Peru.
