Comparettia falcata purple-pink flower
Comparettia falcata

An orchid originating from the cloud forests of Colombia and Ecuador, the species thrives at altitudes ranging between 4,000 and 7,000 feet, amidst dense cloud coverage that provides a consistent, cool, and humid environment. In its natural habitat, it tends to grow as an epiphyte, anchoring itself onto trees, rather than in the soil. The flowers are bright pink. Photographed in the central Andes of Colombia.
