Columnea minor with tubular flowers covered in red bristly hairs and yellow star-shaped floral openings on a leafy branch
Columnea minor

Columnea minor is native to Ecuador and Colombia, where it typically grows as an epiphyte in humid, shaded environments. It distinguishes itself with highly unusual flowers that display a dense covering of bright red bristles. These bristles surround the tubular corolla, which ends in small, star-shaped yellow lobes, giving the blooms a striking two-tone appearance. Photographed in Chocó, Ecuador.
