Columnea arguta

Native to Colombia and Panamá, this is an herbaceous plant in the Gesneriaceae family. This cloud-forest plant is grown for its ornamental appeal. The Goldfish Plant has tubular, bright red-orange flowers that resemble leaping goldfish and prefers humid and cooler environments under filtered light. Looks good in hanging baskets where its trailing stems and vibrant blooms can be showcased to dramatic effect. Photographed in Medellin, Colombia.
