Coleus hadiensis

Coleus hadiensis is a sometimes tuberous subshrub native from northeastern to southern Africa, the southwestern Arabian Peninsula, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. Its aromatic stems and scalloped leaves are covered with soft hairs. Small violet flowers are arranged in branching clusters or spaced whorls above the foliage. The plant is adapted to seasonally dry tropical conditions and can form spreading clumps on open ground or rocky sites. Photographed in Florida.
