Coleus comosus
Coleus comosus is native to tropical regions of East Africa and is less widely cultivated than its ornamental relatives. It is a perennial herb with erect, branching stems and dense whorls of small, lanceolate leaves that are aromatic when crushed. The inflorescences form in upright spikes, showcasing numerous pale purple to lavender tubular flowers that are bilaterally symmetrical, a characteristic feature of the genus. Photographed in Florida.
