Coccothrinax crinita
Coccothrinax crinita, commonly known as the old man palm, is native to Cuba and is recognized for its distinctive hairy trunk, which is densely covered with coarse, fibrous material resembling a beard. This medium-sized palm reaches about 16 to 20 feet in height and features fan-shaped leaves that form a rounded crown. The old man palm produces small, white flowers followed by black fruits that are less than an inch in diameter. In its native habitat, it is considered rare and has limited distribution. Photographed in Florida.
