Native to tropical and subtropical America, these evergreen shrubs, vines, and trees have thick, leathery leaves. Their flowers may be white, yellow, pink, or red. Some flowers produce sticky resin that bees collect, helping pollinate the plants. One member, Clusia rosea, has become naturalized and invasive in Hawaii.
