Clusia lanceolata

Native to southeastern Brazil, this is a shrub in the Clusiaceae family. This species, commonly found in Brazil, particularly along the Atlantic Forest biome is a distinctive tropical plant that grows as a shrub or small tree. Clusia lanceolata possesses a specialized photosynthetic process called CAM (Crassulacean Acid Metabolism), which allows it to conserve water by opening its stomata at night. Photographed in Florida.
