Clethra mexicana
Clethra mexicana is a tree native to montane forests from Mexico to northern South America, typically found at elevations between 4,000 and 8,000 feet. It can reach heights of 65 feet. Its evergreen leaves are broad, leathery, and glossy, and the tree produces upright racemes filled with numerous small, fragrant white flowers. The flowers of this species are notable for their honey-like scent. Photographed in Panama.
