Cleomella arborea
Cleomella arborea, commonly known as bladderpod, is native to the arid and semi-arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it grows in deserts, rocky slopes, and scrublands. This shrub can reach a height of up to 6 feet, and it produces clusters of bright yellow flowers with long, protruding stamens that give the blooms a distinctive appearance. The flowers develop into inflated, bladder-like seed pods, which is the source of the common name. Photographed in Bogota, Colombia.
