Cleome mathewsii

Cleome mathewsii is a tropical shrub native to Peru. Broad compound leaves have strongly marked veins and surround terminal clusters of orange-red flowers. Numerous narrow petals and long stamens radiate from each blossom, while unopened buds remain grouped near the center of the cluster. The species grows in wet tropical environments within its native range. Photographed in Florida.
