Clematis acapulcensis is a climbing species native to Mexico and Central America. Unlike many temperate Clematis, this species thrives in tropical climates where it twines through shrubs and small trees, using its leaf petioles to climb. The flowers are small, measuring around 1 inch across, with numerous thin, thread-like white sepals that radiate outward, giving them a feathery, starburst-like appearance. At the center, a cluster of yellow stamens contrasts with the pale sepals, and the flowers are produced in loose clusters along the stems. Its unusual floral structure, with sepals resembling narrow filaments, distinguishes it from the larger-petaled hybrid Clematis popular in gardens. Photographed in Panama.
