Citrus maxima (Pummelo)

Native to Assam, Cambodia, East Himalaya, Laos, Myanmar, and Nicobar Is. and nearby regions, this is a tree in the Rutaceae family. One of the original citrus species. It is the largest citrus fruit and tastes much like a grapefruit, which is a hybrid of the pomelo. As an evergreen, the pummelo takes the form of a tree, its boughs often weeping under the weight of its mammoth, round to pear-shaped fruits that bear a resemblance to grapefruits. Photographed in northern Colombia.
