Chromolaena leptocephala cluster of pinkish purple flower buds and open blooms with long white styles extending outward
Chromolaena leptocephala

Chromolaena leptocephala is a shrub native to the Andean regions of Ecuador and Peru. This species produces dense corymbs of small tubular flowers that transition from pinkish purple buds to fully opened blooms with protruding white styles, giving them a brush-like appearance. The contrast between the unopened buds and the feathery flowers creates a distinctive floral display that stands out in its native habitat. Unlike many other members of its genus that have become problematic weeds, Chromolaena leptocephala is not reported as invasive and remains largely confined to its native highland ecosystems. Photographed in Peru.
