Chlorophytum comosum flowers with six white petals and yellow-tipped stamens on slender green stems emerging among variegated leaves
Chlorophytum comosum (Spider Plant)

Chlorophytum comosum is native to tropical and southern Africa and is widely cultivated across the world as a resilient ornamental. It typically grows as a perennial evergreen herbaceous plant with long, arching, variegated or solid green leaves that form dense rosettes. This species is especially well known for its ability to produce plantlets, or offsets, that dangle from stolons, a feature that has made it a classic choice for hanging baskets. The flowers of Chlorophytum comosum are small, star-shaped, and typically white, featuring six narrow petals and bright yellow anthers. These blooms emerge in clusters along slender stems, though they are relatively inconspicuous compared to the foliage. Photographed in Florida.
