Chaetogastra laxa

Chaetogastra laxa is native to the Andes of Ecuador and Peru. The shrub produces striking purple flowers with five broad petals, each surrounding a center of curved stamens tipped in yellow. These blooms are particularly noticeable against the rough, hairy leaves that are characteristic of the genus. Photographed in Ecuador.
