Cestrum elegans (Purple Cestrum)

Native to central Mexico, Mexico Gulf, northeastern Mexico, and southwestern Mexico, this is a shrub in the Solanaceae family. It is grown as an ornamental in subtropical and Mediterranean climates. The shrub sprawls in a range of 6 to 10 feet in both height and spread. The flowers exude a sweet aroma and the leaves emit an unpleasant odor when bruised. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
