Ceropegia gigantea enormous pale yellow star-shaped flower covered with fine maroon lines

Ceropegia gigantea

A stem-succulent native to southern Africa, Ceropegia gigantea forms angular leafless shoots that spread into clumps. Its enormous star-shaped flower has five broad pale yellow lobes covered with fine maroon lines and a darker central ring. The fleshy corolla emits an odor associated with carrion-mimicking flowers. Thick stems store water during dry periods. Photographed in Colombia.
