Centropogon gamosepalus

Centropogon gamosepalus is a flowering plant native to Colombia and Ecuador. It grows as a perennial herb or small subshrub, often in partially shaded areas where moisture is consistent year-round. This species is distinguished by its dense clusters of tubular magenta flowers, each curving downward or outward and ending in a protruding style tipped with white hairs. The calyx is united at the base, giving the species its name “gamosepalus,” which refers to fused sepals. Flowering occurs throughout much of the year in its native habitat. Photographed in Ecuador.
