Centratherum punctatum

Centratherum punctatum, often called the Brazilian button flower, is native to tropical South America. It is a perennial herbaceous plant that naturally grows in open fields and disturbed areas, thriving in tropical and subtropical climates. It has naturalized in warm regions globally. The plant is known for producing dense, button-like flower heads that can reach about 1 inch across and are borne on slender stems that rise above the foliage. The flowers are bright purple to violet, with tubular florets tightly packed into a globular head, giving it a distinctive texture. In folk medicine, it has been used as an anti-inflammatory and wound-healing remedy. Photographed in Peru.
