Cenchrus setaceus (Crimson Fountaingrass)

Native to Afghanistan, Algeria, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, and Eritrea and nearby regions, this is an herbaceous plant in the Poaceae family. It is a perennial ornamental grass with a clump-forming habit. This species can reach a height of up to 4 feet, showcasing narrow leaves that may appear in green or burgundy shades, along with feathery pinkish flower plumes. This species is recognized for its invasiveness. Its fire-adapted nature allows it to reestablish rapidly post-burning. Photographed in Medellin, Colombia.
