Celosia argentea var. spicata
Known as Wheat Celosia due to its distinctive, erect, papery texture flower spikes reminiscent of a sheaf of wheat, this plant is native to tropical regions and is grown as an annual or short-lived perennial. The edible leaves are known to be high in beta-carotene and folic acid. One of its varieties, ‘Flamingo Feather’, has won the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. Photographed in Colombia.
