Caucaea olivacea
Native to Colombia and Ecuador, this small perennial orchid grows on trees in the Andes. In Colombia, it is recorded between about 8,200 and 11,800 feet. Clustered, flattened pseudobulbs bear one or two narrow, leathery leaves. Slender flower stems can reach about 16 to 32 inches and carry clusters of long-lasting, violet-scented flowers. Photographed in Ecuador.
