Cattlianthe

Cattlianthe is a nothogenus within the orchid family (Orchidaceae), created to classify hybrids derived primarily from intergeneric crosses between species of the genera Cattleya and Guarianthe. Native Cattleya and Guarianthe orchids originate from tropical regions of Central and South America. The flowers are typically fragrant, with some hybrids exhibiting the classic sweet scent associated with Cattleya. Cattlianthe plants generally have pseudobulbs with one or two leathery leaves and prefer bright, indirect light, intermediate to warm temperatures, and high humidity with good air circulation. Their adaptability and impressive floral displays have made them popular in horticulture and hybridization programs worldwides. Photographed in Florida.
