Native to Colombia, this epiphytic orchid grows on tree branches and produces purple flowers from its pseudobulbs. Its winter-blooming flowers can spread to about 8 inches wide and have a sweet fragrance. It is the national flower of Colombia and has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
