Two open flowers of Capparidastrum pachaca with four white petals and dozens of long white filaments tipped with yellow anthers radiating from short twiggy branchlets
Capparidastrum pachaca

Native to Colombia, Capparidastrum pachaca is a small evergreen woodland tree. The flowers appear in axillary clusters and are distinctive: four ovate white petals surround a tight cone of buds, from which numerous exserted stamens project 1–2 in. beyond the corolla, each bearing a pale yellow anther that gives the blossom a fireworks-like look; calyces are green and slightly ribbed, and the pedicels are short so the clusters sit close to the twigs. Photgraphed in the department of Atlantico, Colombia.
