Camellia japonica (Japanese camellia)
An evergreen shrub originating from China and Japan is a favorite ornamental, particularly in the southeastern regions of the United States. There's a plethora of cultivars, with thousands available showcasing a variety of colors and flower forms. Colors range from white to pink and red. The consistent year-round temperature in Colombia allows for many plants that only have one annual bloom season in the United States to be ever-blooming in Colombia. Camelias and Rhododendrons are two of the many such plants. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia and Virgina.
