Originating from North and Tropical Africa, Western and South Asia it is an upright, evergreen shrub of the milkweed family, typically growing to 2 to 4 meters tall. This multipurpose plant has been utilized for medicine, fodder, fuel, timber, and fiber production. There are a few different varieties available differing in height and flower color, which are usually white or pale purple but may also be greenish yellow. It's also known for its invasive tendencies, particularly in drier areas such as rangelands and savannahs, and is considered an obnoxious environmental weed in many regions.
