Calceolaria crenata

Native to southern Colombia and northern Ecuador, this perennial subshrub has an upright, branching stem with a woody base and grows about 3 feet tall. Its stems and foliage are hairy, and its opposite, lance-shaped leaves have rounded teeth along the edges. Clusters of bright yellow flowers form at the ends of the branches. Each flower has a small upper lip and a much larger, inflated lower lip that gives it a pouch-like shape. The fruit is an egg-shaped capsule. It is grown as an ornamental in pots and planters.
